2014 World Cup Qualifying Round - Asian

Two late goals enable Australia to come from behind and beat 2-1 in a vital World Cup qualifying victory. Australia found themselves trailing Alaa Abdulzehra broke the deadlock on the counter attack in the 71st minute. But Tim Cahill levelled with a header from a corner with 11 minutes left in the match, and Archie Thompson headed in the winner in the 83rd minute. The win moves Australia on to five points from their four matches so far, five points adrift of runaway leaders Japan.

Oman beat Jordan 2-1 in the earlier match, another to feature late drama. Oman took a 62nd-minute lead through Ahmed Mubarak and doubled the advantage in the 87th minute through Jumaa Darwish. Thaer Bawab pulling one back for the visitors in the final minute to leaves Jordan fourth on four points from as many matches.

Captain Javad Nekounam scored the only goal with 14 minutes remaining as 10-man Iran drew level on points with Korea Republic at the top of Group A of the final round of qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup with a 1-0 win at the Azadi Stadium on Tuesday.

Soleimani Shojaei was dismissed for his second yellow card in the 56th minute, but Nekounam fired home the winner after the Koreans had failed to deal with a free-kick to give his side three crucial points. 

Uzbekistan recorded a much-needed first win of the final round of qualifiers for the 2014 FIFA World Cup as Sanjar Tursunov's superb first-half volley secured a 1-0 win over Qatar on Tuesday. Tursunov struck after 13 minutes at Al Sadd Stadium as Uzbekistan followed up back-to-back draws against Lebanon and Korea Republic to lift themselves off the bottom of Group B.
